Candor TechSpace, the leading provider of IT/ITES office spaces, in partnership with Ploggers of India, organized a ‘plogging’ drive to promote fitness and cleanliness among urban millennials. The event took place at the Candor TechSpace campus in Sector 48, Gurugram, Haryana, on 14th December, 2018.

The event kicked off with a brief about the day followed by light warm-up exercises. In the next 30-40 minutes, 100 participants, who were mostly millennials, actively engaged in plogging (a Swedish term for picking up trash while running) over approx. 3kms stretch around the campus and collected about 30 -40 bags of trash. The drive ended with an insightful discussion on the “impact of plastic on the environment, and how to avoid one time use plastic”. A pre-event workshop was also held on 12th December, 2018, to familiarize participants with the concept of plogging.

Speaking on the event, spokesperson of Candor TechSpace, said, “At Candor TechSpace, we are ardent believers that any large-scale change begins with oneself. India’s battle for cleanliness can only be won if a collective effort is made from both the authorities and the citizens. When we came across the concept of plogging, we realized it can make a difference in the plastic waste crisis faced by the country today. Despite originating from Sweden, the popular fitness trend has also caught on with the young Generation in India. However, we were confident about the success of the drive and it will evoke the responsibility of Gurugram residents to respect our environment and make choices that benefit the earth.”

“What started as a small group of runners has now evolved into a community of hundreds across India, contributing directly to the Swachh Bharat Mission. Ploggers of India has already organized plogging drives in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Himachal, and Ladakh, among others regions. Our association with Candor TechSpace will further help our cause by raising the awareness about fitness and cleanliness among more people and especially millennials, who make up a significant part of India’s total population” added the spokesperson of Ploggers of India.

Candor TechSpace plans to host more such drives in its Delhi-NCR campuses, with more than 500 participants in its efforts to instill environmental awareness in the minds of urban Indians.
