Abbas Ansari is an Indian politician and former international skeet shooter, currently serving as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Mau constituency in Uttar Pradesh.   • 2023: Allegations surfaced that he misused his privileges during incarceration by meeting his wife, Nikhat Bano, within the prison premises and conducting business through her mobile phones. This led to his transfer from Chitrakoot prison to Kasganj district jail.

  • March 2025: The Supreme Court granted him interim bail under stringent conditions in a case under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986. He was directed to stay at his official residence in Lucknow and not to make any public statements regarding the sub-judice cases.

  • May 2025: The Supreme Court relaxed his bail conditions, allowing him to stay at his home in Ghazipur when visiting his Mau constituency.
