Instagram Influencer Marketing: Are Blogs a Better Opportunity than?

How Much is An Instagram Post Worth?

If a brand invests in an influencer, it’s paying for the attention of the influencer’s followers. The more focus the brand is given, the more it can sell.

The Value of the Post Itself

If a brand is looking for an influencer with 100,000 followers to post one post sponsored by the brand and expects to pay around $1,000.However, this doesn’t attract the brand’s attention of 100,000 people.

Since Instagram is so popular nowadays, just 30% of the people who follow (30,000 individuals) will see the post on their feeds.

Even if the company chooses an incredible influencer whose audience is twice as engaged as the average, only 5 percent of them, 55,000 users, will slow down enough to share or like the blog post.

We hope these people recognize the brand and not be distracted by the view, bikini, food, or other distracting factors.

If we assume that these 5000 people spent an average of 3 seconds making comments or liking the post sponsored by the brand–and we believe that these are real people, not bots, the brand’s $1000 investment bought it attention for 15,000 seconds (5,000 per person x 3 sec/ppl).

But, these new 250 customers won’t be able to engage with each article the brand releases.

Let’s be generous and say that these new followers interact in 20 minutes of the brand’s posts. Assuming 3 seconds for each interaction, the brand receives an average of 60 minutes of engagement for each new follower.

The total carried-over interest of the brand’s new followers received through an influencer’s Instagram post will be an additional 250 minutes.

The Total Instagram Post Value

When you add those 250 minutes of attention that the brand received from the sponsored post of an influencer to that 250 minutes of carried-over attention, The brand is with the attention of 500 minutes.

Since it was paid $1000, the actual cost of the attention would be $2 per minute.Let’s take this number to determine what the blog post might have to be for the business.

How Much is Being Featured in a Blog Post Worth?

Compared to the Instagrammer with 100,000 followers, my blog that I co-write with my friend, The Unconventional Route, is little.

We only have around 1000 Instagram followers.

However, we can be a formidable opponent even though we only have just 1% of Instagram’s influencer’s followers in terms of being noticed.

A less-than-average blog post from us such as this one about eight only-in-Vancouver dining Experiences receives about 500 pages each month. Based on Google Analytics, those viewers typically spend 5 minutes skimming it.

Maybe 10%.So the brand’s only really getting 10% of the 2,500 minutes–250 minutes–specifically for its brand.

In only two months, our blog post will be able to match the attention of 500 minutes the brand will receive from an influencer with 100,000 followers.

At the very minimum.

The number of people who visit this blog’s content will likely increase over time, mainly when the website you’re working with is newer. This means that while the blog post may not garner the same amount of recognition as a 100,000 followers Instagram post within two months, in a few years, it may receive as much attention as another post on one million followers Instagram post.

Wait, There’s More!

Before you pour your cash on laptops of bloggers (if you’re marketing) or register for a WordPress login (if your influencer status is a factor), It’s worthwhile to consider the details I didn’t include in my analysis above:
